The UK's Royal Institute of International Affairs is listing President Chen Shui-bian (陳-水-扁-) and pop star Jay Chou (周-杰-倫-) among the top 50 people with influence over China.

The list is contained in an article titled "China's Top Fifty: the China Power List," which was published on Monday by Kerry Brown, an associate fellow with the London-based think tank.

Chinese President Hu Jintao (胡-錦-濤-), Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao (溫-家-寶-) and Hong Kong business tycoon Li Ka-shing (李-嘉-誠-) topped the list, in that order.

US President George W. Bush ranked fourth while Chen was fifth. Chou occupied 38th spot.

Commenting on Kerry's China power list, the BBC's Chinese Web site said that with its booming economy, China was wielding increasing clout over world affairs and that the institute's list of Chinese individuals was an attempt by a Western think tank to put the microscope on China's growing global influence.

Brown said the criteria for inclusion on the list were simple. All the people on it must be alive. They did not have to be Chinese -- thus the presence of Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Bush -- but their influence had to be felt inside the People's Republic of China and not elsewhere -- not Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan.

The Dalai Lama and Falun Gong founder Li Hongzhi (李-洪-志-) also made the list.

Taiwan pop king Jay Chou's songs will likely be withdrawn from certain KTV venues, such as Holiday and Cash Box, affiliated by his former agent Alfa Music, Beijing Morning Post reported on Tuesday.

The withdrawal is due to the expiry of Jay Chou's contract with Alfa Music, the terms of which claim that Jay Chou owns the copyright to all of the songs on his albums, and that Alfa Music only had the power of attorney during their contract period. When the contract expired on Mar. 1st, 2007, Alfa Music should, legally, stop using Chou's songs in their KTV centres.

The pop singer's agency in the Chinese mainland, Jushi Music, says that they are now talking about renewing the contract with Alfa, and that the KTV centres will only have to stop broadcasting the songs and pay them copyright fees if they cannot reach an agreement on the matter. However, the company insists that no customers will be affected by the dispute.

Currently, Jay Chou's works are still being broadcasting throughout these popular KTV venues.

Jay Chou who is going to open his own company 'Jie Weier Music Company',has finished the registration with the company during January 26,this year.This regstration was represented by Alfa Music's manager,Yang Jun Rong,But he admitted that he is not resposible for this.When he was asked about the new company' Jie Weier',he answered with a smiled,"This company will be open at April,and i'll be sharing this discussion on that time'.

On the other hand,the signing ceremony of the new movie<-<-Slam Dunk>->- which held at Shanghai last night,the present of Jay at that ceremony,was very cool when he was being interviewed,he said "I hope everyone will remember this speacial moment,we will try to work hard on shooting the movie and will give a 'diao' result of this movie.When the 'diao' word came out from Jay,everyone was hua ran(sorry,i dont know this meaning...
